happy friday!

what better way to leave you this friday than with a wall full of notecards? my love of paper, will it ever end? i should think not.

this picture is taken from paper love, a store that actually recently closed down. it makes me sad to think their shelves are no longer stocked with beautiful colors and designs and it urges me to remind you to support your friends, families, and all local entrepreneurs in their endeavors. happy weekend, my dears.

bubble. bubble. toil & trouble.

this invitation makes me want to live in a historic home, and deck it out with creepy cobwebs, bubbling cauldrons filled with green witches brew, and dry ice creating a swampy fog. what are your plans for halloween this year?

home is where your boots are.

a friend of mine, ms. kalan chapman, has recently published a novel. kalan and i were friends in high school and i've worked with her on several projects since starting notably noted. kalan loves throwing theme parties and always has the cutest ideas. she has always wanted to publish a book, and now that dream has come true for her. i had the pleasure of reading the manuscript when it was still in draft and thought i would share the finished product with you. it's so important we support other women in their business endeavors.

{below you can read the summary provided by lulu.com}

the misadventures of miss lilly: home is where your boots are is about lilly atkins, small-town girl turned big-city lawyer. she's a southern belle and rhinestone cowgirl, balancing sugar and steel with wit and grit. she traded her hometown for dallas to earn a law degree and an old money fiance, losing herself in the process. while her career flourished, her relationship floundered, and she finds herself the brunt of a bad cliche. so she hauls her bags and her cheated heart back across the border to her hometown; brooks, oklahoma, where the creek is cool and the gossip is hot. having grown up there, lilly has always known brooks is the kind of place where everyone knows whose check is good and whose husband isn't. But when she comes back,
she's smacked with some down-home deceit. lilly is suspicious and intrigued when her "bad-boy turned good" old flame wants to be her first client and the local funeral home director is her second.

a trip to the pumpkin patch.

i couldn't help but share the beautiful work of jenny collier photography once again. i can't imagine you mind -- how could anyone grow tired of looking at this talented gal's photos. i've been begging travis to take a trip with me to the pumpkin patch this year. even though we don't have kids, i would love to take a visit. you can just drink in fall when you're at the pumpkin patch. what's one of your favorite fall traditions?

heya sports fan.

one of my favorite things about custom designs? being able to create exactly what the client is looking for. for instance, this client has a son who likes to play basketball and football. she wanted him to have a set of thank you cards for his birthday party, but was having a difficult time finding some that really fit her son. his birthday falls right around the time football season ends and basketball season begins. she knew he wouldn't want to choose between the two sports.

we created these note cards to represent his love of both sports and also used his school colors.

slowly but surely christmas will be here.

christmas is my absolute favorite time of year. i love that in design and retail it gets to come several months early so everyone has what they need in time for the holidays.
it's hard to see from the picture, but this is a two by three {when folded} fold over enclosure card.

party features.

i really wish i had more time to attend and cover different parties and events. i love designing. love it. but my absolute favorite part is seeing the entire package in use. i love the look of a perfectly coordinated event and seeing the enjoyment on guests' faces as they take in each aspect, each detail. each year i do more and more party & event planning, but it's still not at the level i would like for it to be. i always get so excited when i'm approached to help with the entire planning of a party and look forward to gradually growing that business.

teacher's gifts.

we haven't had halloween or thanksgiving yet, but it's never to early to begin thinking about christmas shopping. what are you doing for your kids' teachers? custom made note pads are always a good idea. this note pad was created from the ground up using the teacher's favorite colors, pattern, scripture, and of course, her name. it's sure to be a hit!

ou graduation announcements.

after posting the graduation party suite yesterday, i realized that i had never shared the graduation announcements that were ordered by the same client. this particular announcement was very popular this year and i loved it in the rich crimson & cream colors of OU.

October 7, 2010

whoo is graduating from OU?

i was looking through some of my favorite custom designs of the year and i came across this graduation party for an OU med student. i had so much fun creating this owl and his cute lab coat, graduation cap, and stethoscope. as popular as they are right now, i had still always been too afraid to tackle one of these precious little guys.

the owl was used throughout the entire party, from the invitations, to the cupcake toppers, to the banner that was hung across the party. i didn't get pictures of these on their sticks, but they were mounted on crimson scalloped circles before attached to the sticks.
i will look for pictures of the banner and share it in the future. coordinated parties are my absolute favorite.

the upper crust.

i've been spending a lot of time in edmond this past month. the upper crust is a new restaurant in the okc area. i'm dying to check it out but haven't been able to make it over yet.
they describe themselves as an uptown pizzeria and wine bar specializing in wood-fired, thin crust, new york style pies complimented by a full menu and wine list.
yum!
have you been yet? what was your favorite dish?

October 5, 2010

polka dots.

i thought the days of chocolate and pink and chocolate and blue had passed us by. they were so popular in 2005 and 2006, but five years later, i still get requests for these fun color combos. i'm pretty partial to them as well. they work great for babies, children, teens, and adults alike. the polka dots with these colors have been very popular for baby showers and birth announcements. what do you think ... are you tired of these color combos or have they become a classic for you?
